Structural Engineering Competition for the Youth–Ultimate Paper Tower Challenge

04/07/2025

We are pleased to announce that Sardius Lau (4A), Jade Ma (4D), Abby Ng (4D), and Yoyo Hui (4D) achieved the distinction of first runner-up and were awarded the Aesthetic and Innovative Prize of $3,000 in the Structural Engineering Competition for Youth–Ultimate Paper Tower Challenge, organised by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), the University of Hong Kong (HKU), and the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi).

The Ultimate Paper Tower Challenge took place on 4 July 2025. This territory-wide STEAM competition was designed to enhance understanding and interest in structural engineering among secondary school students. Participants were tasked with designing and constructing a paper tower capable of withstanding gravity and wind loads. Our students gained invaluable experience and enriched their knowledge of engineering through this endeavour.

We are delighted to celebrate their success and hope it will inspire more students to explore and participate in future STEAM competitions.
