Tour to Y-Park
On 17 February, our Form 1-5 Student Environmental Protection Ambassadors (SEPAs) went on a guided tour organised by the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC) to Y-Park. Y-Park is a temporary yard recycling site, established by the Government to recycle fallen trees after Super Typhoon Mangkhut in 2018 as well as other general yard waste.
In the guided tour, the SEPAs learnt more about environmental protection and upcycling, as well as the yard waste recycling process. They also participated in a workshop in which they made a cup saucer from recycled wood.
The activity corresponds to one of the Green Team’s year themes: ‘carbon neutrality’. The upcycling, recycling, and reuse of the fallen trees and other yard waste can help us achieve carbon neutrality, by reducing energy consumption and the amount of yard waste into landfills, as well as giving the waste a new life.
