Social Awareness Week
From 11 to 15 May, the Student Association held the annual Social Awareness Week, a time for students to learn more about societal matters. The theme this year was Paws for a Cause. Various activities related to service animals and animal welfare were held throughout the week, including an info booth, a craft booth, a video show, an inter-class guide dog quiz, a teacher- student debate, and a photo booth.
The highlight of the week was an interview with Ms Winnie Kang and Ms Christina Lee, two guide dog experts, about guide dogs and animal welfare. During the interview, students got to meet Ms Kang’s adorable guide dog trainee, Volney, and learn more about training service animals and their acceptance in Hong Kong.
Throughout the week, students participated in fun activities and walked away better informed about animal welfare and guide dogs in Hong Kong. The Social Awareness Week served as a powerful reminder that all people can take part in making our society a better and more inclusive place.
