F.4 Cross-curricular Visit to the Hong Kong Palace Museum
As part of a cross-curricular activity jointly organised by the Citizenship and Social Development, Visual Arts, and Chinese History panels, our F.4 students visited the Hong Kong Palace Museum on 21 November 2025.
During the visit, students participated in guided tours of two key exhibitions: ‘Entering the Forbidden City: Architecture, Collection, and Heritage’ and ‘From Dawn to Dusk: Life and Art in the Forbidden City’. These exhibitions introduced students to over 300 treasures from the Palace Museum, showcasing the rich architecture, collections, and cultural heritage of the Forbidden City. Students explored artefacts from the Qing court and gained insight into the daily lives of emperors in the 18th century, deepening their understanding of China’s cultural legacy and the historical context of cultural exchange.
In addition, students had the opportunity to visit the special exhibition ‘Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums’. This exhibition is the largest, most comprehensive showcase of ancient Egyptian treasures ever held in Hong Kong. The exhibition presents an extraordinary collection of 250 precious artefacts, including statues of pharaohs and deities, gold ornaments, large-scale coffins and animal mummies. The objects come from seven prominent museums in Egypt, including the Egyptian Museum in Cairo, the Luxor Museum of Ancient Egyptian Art, as well as recent archaeological discoveries from Saqqara. Many of the pieces are being displayed outside of Egypt for the first time, making the exhibition especially valuable for our students.
