Easter Prayer Service and May Crowning
On 9 May, we gathered in the school hall for the Easter Prayer Service and May Crowning to reflect on the significance of the season. It was a heartfelt celebration of faith and community. We rejoiced at the recent election of Pope Leo XIV and the hope he brings to the Church. His election inspired a collective sense of renewal and optimism among all.
During the service, Mr Arnold Leung, Advanced Certified Hospice & Palliative Social Worker, delivered a poignant speech on the theme of end-of-life care, emphasising the importance of maintaining hope and dignity until the final moments. His words resonated deeply with us, encouraging everyone to cherish life and support one another through difficult times. The choir, with their uplifting voices, sang a selection of hymns that beautifully complemented the service, fostering a spirit of reverence and joy.
As the service transitioned to the May Crowning with a soft piano playing, the atmosphere shifted to one of celebration. Some Catholic students, with their hands clasped tightly, led a procession in honour of Mother Mary, carrying vibrant flowers. One by one, they placed blooms at Her feet and delicately crowned her with a floral wreath, symbolising their devotion and love. Meanwhile, other students joined in to sing hymns that echoed the themes of love and gratitude.
The event was a touching reminder of faith’s enduring presence in the lives of the students, uniting them in shared beliefs and a commitment to hope, compassion, and reverence for life.
