It was early August when I first stepped through the gates of Maryknoll to prepare to take on
the role of Principal at this beloved school. As I walked across the lush green front lawn,
with both excitement and slight trepidation, the tranquility and poise of the red brick building
soothed me. Like all who attended school at 5 Ho Tung Road, I felt a sense of equanimity.
Such composure is rooted in the firm belief that quality girls’ education makes a difference in
the world, especially in an age of unprecedented changes. Our school believes in nurturing
virtues that are grounded in Catholic Christian values, which ennoble our students. Maryknoll
girls have always been well-rounded learners who pursue excellence for their self-
development, show compassion for others, and embrace service as an integral part of life.
As the new Principal of the school, I pledge to support our students with “love, tenderness,
consideration and thoughtfulness for others”, as taught by Mother Mary Joseph Rogers, the
Foundress of the Maryknoll Sisters. I also pledge to empower our staff to continue cultivating
an environment conducive to student growth and advancing with the times. As we prepare for
our centenary, we will collaborate with the MCS community to reflect on and reshape what
education means for the contemporary world and a sustainable future.
I want to express my deep gratitude for the warm welcome I have received since taking on
this role. It is uplifting to experience the dedication and passion demonstrated by the students,
parents, staff, and alumni. Maryknoll is a big family and all who have spent time here, love
the school. True to the Maryknoll spirit, all show their love with action.
O school we love, Maryknoll!
